High School
A Pathway to Success
At St Mary and St Mina’s Coptic Orthodox College, our High School is a place where young men and women are formed in wisdom, character and faith. Guided by the teachings of our Coptic Orthodox Church, we believe every student is created in the image and likeness of God and entrusted with unique gifts to be discovered, nurtured and offered in service to others.
High School Campus Life
Inspiring Lifelong Learners
Foundations for Lifelong Learning
Students in Stage 4 experience a broad and balanced curriculum across the key learning areas: • English • Mathematics • Science • Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) • Coptic Orthodox Studies • Personal Development, Health & Physical Education (PDHPE) • Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) • Languages Other Than English • Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) Classes are a combination of mixed ability and graded, reflecting our belief in the potential of every learner. Our high potential, gifted education and acceleration opportunities in Mathematics and STEM support students with identified gifts, helping them grow the talents entrusted to them by God.
Years 7–10 Courses
Students continue to study the eight NESA key learning areas through to Year 10. Alongside mandatory courses, students may choose from a range of electives offered according to staff expertise and student interest. Students who leave school before completing the HSC receive the NSW Record of School Achievement (RoSA).
Year 11 and 12 Pathways to the HSC
In the High School years, students undertake courses leading to the Higher School Certificate (HSC). Our approach supports academic rigour while nurturing spiritual resilience, wellbeing and discernment. Types of HSC Courses - Board Developed Courses Set and examined by NESA, these courses may contribute to a student’s ATAR. They include subjects across English, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Creative Arts, PDHPE, HSIE, Languages and VET frameworks. Board Endorsed Courses Developed by schools, TAFE, or universities, these courses count toward the HSC but do not contribute to the ATAR. Vocational Education and Training (VET) VET courses provide nationally recognised qualifications and practical skills for future employment. Students may study VET courses through TAFE and other training providers. Many include work placement. We also support students undertaking a range of TAFE delivered VET options. Every Year 12 student is paired with a dedicated staff mentor who provides academic guidance, pastoral care and spiritual encouragement throughout their HSC journey.
