Service Week

At St Mary & St Mina’s Coptic Orthodox College, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. As part of our SAW Model of Education — Spiritual, Academic and Welfare — our Year 9 students participate in an intentional and deeply meaningful extra-curricular initiative known as Service Week. Conducted annually in Term 4, this dedicated week invites students to actively live out the Gospel through service to others, developing compassion, humility, gratitude and social responsibility.

Throughout the week, students engage in a variety of service opportunities across the wider community, including serving alongside the volunteers of St Wanas Charity at St Mark’s Church, supporting the vital outreach work of Christian Homeless Services (CHS), assisting community initiatives through St Abraam’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Peakhurst, and participating in service and spiritual reflection at the Shenouda Monastery. These experiences allow students to encounter real-world need with empathy and action, while strengthening their understanding of servant leadership through the lens of Christ.

Service is an essential part of the identity of a St Mary and St Mina's student. We strive to graduate young people who are not only academically capable, but spiritually grounded, community-minded and zealous in their faith. Through Service Week, students learn that true success is found not only in achievement, but in one’s willingness to love, serve and uplift others.
