Head of College's Message

Welcome to St Mary and St Mina’s Coptic Orthodox College

It is both a privilege and a deep personal calling to lead a community where faith, learning, and character formation are woven together in the life of every student. At St Mary and St Mina’s, we are grounded in the rich and ancient tradition of the Coptic Orthodox Church, a living faith that has endured for centuries and continues to shape who we are today.

Our mission extends far beyond academic success. We are committed to nurturing young people who are well-rounded, Christ-centred, and grounded in the Gospel — students who love Jesus, who are zealous in their faith, and who carry that faith into the world with courage, humility, and purpose. We believe deeply in forming students who are not only academically capable, but who are also servant-hearted, compassionate, and committed to making a difference in the lives of others.

At the heart of our College is the belief that education is a vocation. Our staff do not simply teach content; they form hearts and minds, walking alongside students in their journey of growth. Through our strong focus on both academic excellence and service, we seek to develop students who understand that their gifts are not just for themselves, but for the good of others.

Learning is a joyful and lifelong journey. It requires curiosity, perseverance, collaboration and a willingness to grow. As the Acting Head of College, I strive to model these qualities every day. I am a lifelong learner and I encourage our students, staff and families to embrace the same spirit. When we learn together - openly, humbly and with enthusiasm - we build a culture where every individual is empowered to flourish.

Our approach to wellbeing is grounded in our SAW model — Spiritual, Academic, and Welfare — recognising that true success comes when all aspects of a student’s life are nurtured in harmony. Whether in the classroom, in prayer, through service, or in everyday interactions, we strive to ensure that every student feels known, valued, and deeply cared for.

As a College, we are also shaped by our four House patrons — St Mary, St Mina, St George, and St Demiana — whose lives of faith, sacrifice, and witness continue to inspire our students to live with courage and conviction.

“St Mary and St Mina’s is more than a school — it is a place of belonging, faith, and transformation.”

With this calling comes great responsibility. The wellbeing, safety, and formation of each child entrusted to us remains at the forefront of all that we do. We are committed to working in partnership with our families, clergy, and wider community, recognising that it is through these strong relationships that our students flourish.

Our vision is clear: to raise a generation of young people who are faithful, capable, and impactful — young men and women who are truly in the world, but not of the world.

As you explore our College, I hope you experience the warmth, faith, and purpose that define our community. Whether you are a current family or considering joining us, I warmly invite you to be part of this journey.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our College. It would be our honour to walk alongside you in the formation and education of your children — one child at a time, shaping a better world through Christ.
