At St Mary and St Mina’s Coptic Orthodox College a strong emphasis is placed on student welfare in order to support academic studies. We create an atmosphere where challenge and achievement are encouraged. Rigour, diversity and balance have been, and will continue to be the cornerstones of our philosophy.
Most of our students gain the top two bands in the years 7 and 8 Secondary Numeracy Assessment Program (SNAP) and in the English Language and Literacy Assessment (ELLA).
Our students are awarded many High Distinctions, Distinctions and Credits in Australia-wide competitions in Mathematics, English, Science and Computing.
The Class of 2006 achieved excellent results in the 2006 School Certificate, with results above state average in Mathematics, English, Science and Computing.
Our two-year accelerated students have achieved band 6 (the top band) in the School Certificate (SC) Mathematics and the following outstanding results in the Higher School Certificate (HSC) Mathematics in 2006:-
- Joseph Magdy: 99% Maths Extension 2 and 98% Maths Extension 1
- Daniel Ishak: 99% Maths Extension 2 and 98% Maths Extension 1
- Andrew Beshara: 95% Maths Extension 1 and 94% Mathematics
The School would like to congratulate Joseph Magdy for achieving 5th place in NSW state HSC Mathematics Extension 2 in 2006(as advertised in the Sydney Morning Herald on 20th December 2006).
